Terms of Service

The terms and conditions for using our service.

Last updated: 2026-09-23

Version 1.0 ยท Effective September 23, 2026

1. Introduction and acceptance

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to Faculty Atlas (the "Service"). By creating an account, buying credits, or using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old, have read and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy, and have authority to act for any organization you represent. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

Faculty Atlas helps users filter publicly available faculty information from official university sources, preview matching records, and use credits to unlock downloadable contact lists. The Service provides digital access after a confirmed purchase. It does not send email campaigns or guarantee that a published contact detail remains current, accurate, or deliverable. Coverage, fields, and source records may change as universities update their websites or faculty members opt out.

3. Accounts and eligibility

Provide accurate account and billing information, keep your credentials confidential, and take responsibility for activity under your account. Do not share your account. Notify us promptly through the support portal if you suspect unauthorized access. If you use the Service for an organization, you represent that you may bind that organization to these Terms.

4. Credits and credit packages

The Service uses pay-as-you-go credits rather than a recurring subscription. You may purchase credit packages at the prices displayed before checkout. You can preview list context before unlocking contact fields. Credits are consumed only for records with an email address; the current rate is one credit per unlocked email address. The number of credits required is shown before you confirm an unlock.

Purchased credits do not expire while your account remains open. Promotional or free credits are separate from purchased credits and may have conditions disclosed when granted; they have no cash value and are not refundable.

5. Billing and payment

Each credit package is a one-time purchase. By completing checkout, you authorize a charge for the amount shown there. Credit purchases do not automatically renew, and the Service does not offer automatic top-ups under these Terms. Applicable taxes, if any, are shown at checkout. Payments are processed by Waffo Pancake/Creem; we do not store your full payment card number on our servers.

6. Credit validity and account closure

Purchased credits remain available until used or refunded and do not expire after a set number of months or years. You may request account closure through the support portal. Before closure, you may use your remaining purchased credits or request a refund of the unused balance under Section 7. We will not treat account closure itself as an expiry of an unused purchased balance. Access to the Service may be suspended or terminated under Section 13.

7. Refunds and credit reviews

Unused purchased credits are eligible for a refund request within 30 days of purchase. If you request a refund within 7 days and none of the credits in that purchase have been used, you may request a full refund. For other eligible unused balances, a transaction fee may be deducted only if its fixed percentage was disclosed to you before purchase; any such fee and the resulting refund amount will be shown before the refund is processed. Consumed credits are generally non-refundable.

If an unlocked email address hard bounces because the address is incorrect, you may request a credit review within 30 days of the applicable credit purchase. Provide the affected record and evidence, such as a screenshot showing that delivery failed because the address was wrong. We will review eligible requests and restore credits where the evidence confirms the error. A recipient's absence, filtering, refusal, or lack of response alone is not a verified hard bounce.

We will correct duplicate or erroneous charges. Nothing in these Terms limits any refund or withdrawal right that applicable law cannot exclude. To request a refund or credit review, use the support portal and include your account email, transaction ID, reason, and any supporting evidence. Refunds of paid credits are returned through the original payment method when available; credit restorations appear in your account balance.

8. Billing disputes

If you believe a charge is incorrect, contact us through the support portal with your transaction ID so we can investigate and correct it. You retain any right to raise a dispute with your payment provider or bank.

9. Data rights and permitted use

Access to contact data and downloads is licensed for your own lawful, approved use; it is not a sale or transfer of ownership of the data or the Service. You remain responsible for your outreach, including any notice, consent, privacy, anti-spam, and other legal requirements that apply to your use of a contact list. Check source context and data freshness before relying on a record. Faculty opt-outs are permanently suppressed from future generated lists after processing.

10. Prohibited use

You may not:

  • Resell, publish, sublicense, or redistribute contact lists or access to the Service without our written permission.
  • Share an account, scrape or harvest the Service at scale, bypass credit charges, or evade access controls.
  • Use contact information for unlawful, deceptive, harassing, or unsolicited activity that violates applicable law.
  • Infringe another person's privacy, intellectual property, or other rights.
  • Interfere with the Service, introduce malware, or attempt unauthorized access.

We may review unusual volumes or suspicious activity, throttle access, and ask you to cooperate with a misuse investigation. A material breach may result in suspension, termination, and available legal remedies.

11. Privacy and security

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle account and usage data. Waffo Pancake/Creem processes payment card information for purchases. We use reasonable measures to protect the Service, but no internet service is completely secure.

12. Disclaimers and liability

The Service and contact data are provided "as is" and "as available" to the extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, complete coverage, delivery to any email address, or the accuracy of third-party university records. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages. Our total liability arising from the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. These limitations do not apply where prohibited by law.

13. Suspension and termination

These Terms apply while you use the Service. We may suspend or terminate access for a material breach, suspected fraud or misuse, or where required by law. We may first restrict activity while investigating. If we terminate your account for a reason other than your breach or fraud, you may request a refund of unused purchased credits. Closing or terminating an account does not remove either party's accrued rights or your obligations concerning data already downloaded.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of United States Department of Commerce or any other United States or foreign agency or authority, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you. Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us through the support portal so we can try to resolve the issue informally.

15. Changes and general terms

We may update these Terms. We will post the revised version and effective date here and give notice of material changes before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the revised Terms. If any provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.

16. Contact

For support, billing, refunds, legal questions, or security concerns, use the support portal. Faculty members may also use the contact channel linked from the Service to request suppression of their record.
